Senate Leader, Others Bag Leadership Award

Senate Leader, Teslim Folarin and eight others in Abuja on Sunday bagged the Exemplary Leadership Award of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Muslim Graduates Association (OAUMGA).

A statement by Alhaji AbdulBasit Bakare, the association’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), said others were Sen. Ganiyu Solomon (AC-Lagos) and Sen. Dahiru Awaisu-Kuta (PDP-Niger).

Chief Lanre Ipinmisho, Director-General, Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), will also receive the award. The statement said other dignitaries to be honoured in Abuja tomorrow include Alhaji Lola Ashiru, Justice Ajoke Adepoju, Malam Musa Buka and Alhaji Abdulkareem Adesokan.

Alhaji Yomi Bolarinwa, the Director-General, National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), is also receiving the award.

The statement said Dr. Taofik AbdulAzeez of the University of Abuja will deliver a lecture on the theme of the award : “Nigeria at 50: Muslims Role in the Past, Present and Future.’’

It said the annual dinner and award night by OAUMGA was its own way of recognising those who had contributed to the development of the country in their various professional callings through their exemplary leadership qualities.

Others expected to grace the occasion include the National President of the Association, Alhaji Ahmed Popoola and Alhaji Rafiu Ebiti, member of OAUMGA Board of Trustees.

NAN reports that past recipients of the OAUMGA (formerly UNIFEMGA) Exemplary Leadership Award were Mr. Dimeji Bankole, Speaker, House of Representatives.

Others are Reps. Lanre Agoro (PDP-Oyo), Kamil Akinlabi (PDP-Oyo), Muraina Ajibola (PDP-Oyo), Abike Dabiri (AC-Lagos).
