As West Bromwich Albion Football Club of England get set to unveil their new signing, Nigeria’s Osaze Odemwingie, coach of Golden Eaglets, Monday Odigie has tipped the former Insurance of Benin forward to shine in the English Premier League, EPL.
Odigie, Bayelsa United, disclosed in a chat with P.M Sports that the former La Louviere of Belgium striker would flourish because he has what it takes to take the EPL by the storm.
Odigie, who was part of the technical crew that led the Golden Eaglets to win silver medal at the Nigeria 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup, opined that since the EPL is all about pace and space, Odemwingie would have no problem in adopting to the style of play in England.
According to Odigie, “Odemwingie will have no problem in settling down in the Premier League because all the prerequisites needed for him to shine are all embedded in him. I think it is only a matter of time for him to get used to the style of play in the Premier League and after adapting, he would shine like a million starsâ€.
Odemwingie joined the EPL returnees on a three-year deal after passing medical and signed a contract. He said of his deal with West Brom, “I’ve already signed a contract. I returned from England on Sunday morning after signing a personal contract with the club. It’s now left for West Brom and Locomotive Moscow to negotiate then I will achieve my dream of playing in England.â€
The forward says he turned down a move to Greek club Panathinaikos.
‘’The first proposal was received last year. But then I saw no point in moving from the Russian championship to Greece.
“In addition, I hoped that Locomotive would qualify for the Champions League.’’
