2 Docked For Fraud

A man, Wole Owolabi, 24 and a woman, Temitope Abioye, 24 have been arraigned before the Ikeja Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, Nigeria on a three-count charge of fraud and felony.

They were alleged to have conspired with others now at large on 18 February, 2010 at Mosalasi Bus stop, Alagbado, to commit felony, to wit, obtaining money under false pretence and stealing, offences punishable under Section 56 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 17, Vol. 2, Laws of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2003.

Second charge alleged that they defrauded Janet Rufus of N3m under the pretence of curing her of the demonic curse placed on her.

The offence is punishable under Section 419 of the Criminal Code, Cap.C.17, Vol.2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.

They were also accused of stealing N3m belonging to Janet Rufus, an offence punishable under Section 390 (9), Cap. C.17, Vol. 2, Laws of Lagos, Nigeria, 2003.

They pleaded not guilty to the charge and the presiding magistrate, Mrs. A.O. Adedayo granted them bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The case has been adjourned till September 1, 2010.
