Kickboxers Storm Owerri For Battle Of Champions II

Kickboxing Federation of Nigeria, KFN,  has concluded plans to hold a national championship tagged “Battle of Champions Part II”.

The event, which is being organised in conjunction with the Imo State government will be held at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri from 25 through 29 August. Over 500 kickboxers are expected to compete in the cadet, junior and senior age divisions for both male and female.

In a statement made available to P.M.Sports, the federation says the event is an open championship where winners in the junior and cadet categories will represent the country at the 2010 WAKO World Junior and Cadet Kickboxing Championship in Serbia. The statement further said the winners in the senior division will fly Nigeria’s flag at the WKA World Championship in Scotland in October and the ISKA World Championships in Spain in November.

According to the federation, during the tourney, a technical and officiating course will be organised by the Imo State Kickboxing Association, while 25 August has been scheduled as arrival date. Cash prize of $1000 will be given to the best team, while equipments will  be given to the second and third placed teams.

It would be recalled that the first edition of the Battle of Champions was held at the National Stadium Surulere, Lagos in 2008 with over 500 athletes across the federation in attendance.
