Man Caught With Drugged Lucozade Boost

The police in Lagos, Nigeria have arrested a man, Monsuru Adedeji, with adulterated Lucozade boost.

Monsuru was alleged to have adulterated the drink with sleeping tablets which he confessed he uses to perpetrate criminal acts.

The 28-year old was arrested by detectives from the Isheri Oshun Police Station, Lagos, following a tip-off.

At the police station, he was asked to drink the adulterated Lucozade boost but he refused and an attempt to force him to drink it also proved abortive. He confessed that he mixed it with sleeping tablets.

He also confessed to the police that he uses it on his victims so that when they fall asleep, he robs them.

The police described his action as criminal and charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court.

Part of the charge reads: ”That you, the defendant, on the same date, time and place did have in your possession, a Lucozade boost mixed with sleeping tablets, an offence contrary to Section 247 of the Criminal Code, Cap.17, Vol. 2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2004.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge and Magistrate S.O. Solebo granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties.

The matter has been adjourned till 8 September, 2010 while the defendant was  remanded in prison custody for failing to meet the conditions attached to the bail.
