Community Head Alleges Threat To Life

The community head of Araromi Ale in Olorunda Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, Chief Temitope Adele Agemo, has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Ogbonnaya Onovo and Lagos Commissioner of Police, Mr. Marvel Akpoyibo, over threat to his life and family.

According to the petitioner, he said he was picked by Ifa oracle to head the community comprising 28 villages, two ruling houses, Oshuku Iyonbu and Ojisa Ekiro, while he is from Oshuku Ruling House.

He stated further that in 2005, four names were presented at a meeting. They were himself, Chief Ibikunle Ajose, Taiwo Okebe and Biliaminu Shitta.

Among those that went to consult the oracle, according to him, was the Chief Imam of the community, Imam Karrem Ali, who suggested that the name of Lawrence Oke be added to the list, but at the end of the exercise, his name was picked as ruler of the community.

Agemo stated further that on 4 August, 2006, he was announced as head of the community, while members of the two ruling houses prayed for him after his endorsement on 24 September, after which Chief Ibikunle Ajose raised his hand up in congratulations, while the development was duly communicated to the Chairman, Chieftaincy Committee of Olorunda LCDA and Oba Moses Olaleye, the Onilogbo of Ilogbo Eremi community.

“Since then, I have been receiving several telephone calls, threatening to kill me, my wife and children. In fact, we have abandoned our house for safety of our lives,” he stated in the petition, while urging the police to come to his aid and arrest those threatening his life.
