Nigeria Scrabble Federation has expressed optimism that the country’s athletes are ready to defend Africa Scrabble Championship they won two years ago in Kenya in this year’s edition scheduled for 20 October in Accra, Ghana.

Nigeria came tops in the medal table in the last edition. Out of seven countries that took part in the Kenya tourney, Nigerian athletes made the first three position, with Jighere Wellington, Faloye Ibukun and Chinedu Okwelogu, taking the first, second and third positions respectively.

President of the federation, Toke Aka, said it will be difficult for any country to defeat Nigeria in this year’s tourney, boasting that Nigerian athletes are more sophisticated and technically better in the game of scrabble in the continent.

Aka said Nigeria has the potential to be the best in Africa, therefore, it will be difficult for any country to dethrone Nigeria in the championship.
