Prominent Islamic scholar, Fadhilat Sheikh Shuaib Abdul-Salam, the chief Imam of Moraba Central Mosque, Ilorin, Kwara State, has called on Nigerian government to spend more on education by increasing the budget tary allocation for the sector .
Sheikh Shuaib made this call at a Ramadan lecture recently held in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State. The lecture was well attended by students from both Islamic and western schools.
The Imam argued that government is not spending on education compared to what it is currently spending on other sectors of the economy.
He said that “if government official refuse to provide basic education by increasing the budget on education, God will not forgive themâ€.
He, therefore, charged the people in government to fear Allah and seek for His forgiveness and blessings in the month of Ramadan.
