UBAA Honours Members

The University of Benin Alumni Association (UBAA) has honoured members that have excelled in their various professions and have contributed meaningfully to the development of the institution and Nigeria at large.

The awards were presented to the recipients during the Association’s 6th Council meeting/ dinner and awards night held on Saturday, 14 August, 2010 at Airport Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos State.

The members honoured with merit awards are the permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Lagos State Mr. John Oluseyi Coker; Head of Administration and |Service, PHCN, Lagos, Mr. Paul Oshevire; Consultant Optometrist/Ocular-Pathologist, Enny Eye Care, Dr. Mrs. Eniola Ajayi and Dr. Joe Owie among others.

Speaking with Campus Square,  Mr. Coker said: “I am grateful to God and feel very elated that I am among the few people recognised by my alma-matta”.

Mr. Coker stated that it is not an easy thing to be recognized but was  grateful to God and advised the students of the institution to follow their footsteps.

Also, Mr. Oshevire  said: “It is the greatest thing that has happened to me. I am very grateful for the recognition.”

He added that, “it is a great opportunity to be an alumnus of University of Benin because it is the greatest university in Nigeria and in no time, it will be the best  University in Africa.”

One of the awardees, Dr. Eniola Ajayi, who graduated from the institution in 1986, dedicated her award to Almighty God, saying “I have not felt I deserve the award but I give thanks to God for it.”
