The management of Diamond Bank of Nigeria Plc on Tuesday donated two Toyota Hilux vehicles and 100 motorcycles to the Kebbi Government.
Presenting the items to Gov. Saidu Dakingari, in Birnin Kebbi, the Managing Director of the bank, Mr. Victor Ezenwoko, said the gesture was aimed at helping the state to alleviate poverty.
Ezenwoko said that the bank decided to make the donation because of the good relationship existing between the government and the bank, especially the enabling operational environment in the state.
Responding on behalf of the state government, the Commissioner for Finance, Alhaji Bello Tugga, thanked the management of the bank for the gesture and promised to utilise the items judiciously.
Tugga said that the donated items, especially the motorcycles would be channelled to the on-going youth empowerment programme.
“We will distribute the motorcycles to youths and women groups, perhaps as soft loans to empower them,” he said.
He said that Diamond Bank had proved to be one of the banks that was willing to promote the economy of the state considering its huge number of customers and excellent customer-bank relationship.
Tugga gave the assurance that the state government would support the bank to prosper.
