Man Attacks Tenant With Axe

A man, Samuel Godwin, 27, has been arrested by the police at Igando, outskirts of Lagos for allegedly using an axe to attack his fellow tenant, Kenneth Ikeh.

Samuel was alleged to have attacked Kenneth with axe and injured him. He was rushed to the Igando General Hospital where he is currently receiving treatment.

Fighting reportedly broke out at their residence at Oyisa Compound after the two men disagreed over an issue.

Samuel was said to have rushed into his apartment and brought out an axe which he used in attacking the complainant.

He was arrested by the police and charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court on a four-count charge of illegal possession of axe and using it to injure his co-tenant, an offence contrary to Sections 86, 249, 252 and 88 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 38, Vol. 10, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2007.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge and was granted bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety by Mrs. S.O. Solebo, the presiding magistrate of the court.

The matter has been adjourned till 8 September, 2010.
