The Sarkin Hausawa in Lagos State, Alhaji Sani Kabir, has commended the Lagos State governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, for his foresight and rapid transformation of the state.

“He has done well, everyone can see the evidence of the government’s performance. I commend him for his foresight and development of Lagos State,” Alhaji Kabir told P.M.NEWS yesterday during a call to our office.

The Sarkin Hausawa allayed the fears of Lagosians that the ugly incident of the strike embarked upon by Hausa food stuff traders will reccur, saying the conflict had been resolved.

“Lagos State government has reduced considerably the tax the traders pay on on their goods. I also like to thank the government on this positive step which has permanently resolved the crisis,” Alhaji Kabir said.

He, however, appealed to Governor Fashola to consider the appointment of Arewa people for cabinet posts, especially now that there are vacancies with the exit of a commissioner and a senior special adviser.

According to him, the request to include Arewa in government of Lagos State was made about 10 years ago, stressing that since the Igbo have slots in the Fashola administration, Hausas should not be left out.

The Sarkin Hausawa said he was born in Lagos over 40 years ago and that his parents lived many years in Lagos and contributed their quota to the development of the state.

Like the Yoruba, Ibos were considered for recognition in states like Kano, Kaduna and Sokoto, he therefore said Lagos State should not be an exception.

He canvassed that the Hausa and other ethnic groups as well as foreigners should also be recognised in the state.

Alhaji Sani Kabir argued that the cosmopolitan nature of Lagos made it imperative for government to recognise and integrate all the different nationalities into the government of the state.
