Tragedy hit two friends, Umar Danjuma and Sunday Adebiyi recently in Minna, Niger State capital when they were crushed to death by a hit-and-run driver later identified as Uduka, who has not been found.
Sources informed P.M.NEWS that Umar Danjuma and Sunday Adebiyi were riding a motorcycle when they were knocked down by a car. But the driver ran away while the two friends died instantly.
Contacted, the Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Oluche Richard confirmed the incident. He added that police preliminary investigation has confirmed that the two friends had a misunderstanding with the car driver, Uduka over a girl, Martha Andrew.
â€œThe investigation is actually yielding results as their contentions girlfriend, Martha, has made useful statement to the police. She is cooperating with us. She has mentioned names which we shall investigate,â€ the PPRO revealed.
Oluche, however, called on the families of the deceased friends to be patient because the truth will always prevail over falsehood. He pleaded with them not to take the laws into their hands as the police would soon get to the root of the incident.
Meanwhile, the elder brother of Umar Danjuma, Mallam Yara Usahau, has called on the police not to spare anyone found wanting in their investigation.
Mallam Yaro said he was phoned that his brother and his friend have been killed by a car. When he got to the scene, he saw their corpse which confirmed eyewitnesses’ account that the car driver deliberately knocked down the victims and reversed to run over them.
Similarly, the late Sunday Adebiyiâ€™s wife, Bola said police came to inform her that her husband had been killed by a jealous man over girlfriend matter.
Police investigations into the matter is ongoing.
