The Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji, is expected to be the Chief Guest of Honour at the one-day youths seminar on the abuse of drugs on Nigeria’s Independence day Friday, 1 October, 2010.
The event which will take place at the New Dawn Events Centre, Water Corporation Drive, Victoria Island, Lagos, is being sponsored and organised by the Men’s Missionary Union of the New Dawn Baptist Church.
The event tagged: Drug Abuse: A Transformative Agenda For Youths Well Being, will cover key areas of discussions.
The medical and physiological implications of drug abuse in youths, the criminal implications and tendencies of drug abuse, as well as spiritual implications and breaking of drug bond, will be treated by seasoned discussants and facilitators from different callings and disciplines that include officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, eminent clerics and scholars, consultants, phychiatrist and other security operatives whose preoccupation centres on effective youths’ discipline and human capital development in nation building.
Meanwhile, letters of invitation have been duly extended to eminent personalities, patrons, guardians, schools and other relevant bodies in education and allied youth empowerment programmes.
According to Mr. Aramide Noibi, who handles publicity for the programme, the event is the  church’s contribution to nation building and the country’s 50th Jubilee anniversary celebrations of her independence.
The event which is being sponsored under the Presidency of Brother Femi Jaiyesimi and his society, while Brother Stephen Enada is co-ordinating the programme.
