Three suspected kidnappers, Segun Taiwo a.k.a Orobo, Beke Biyi, and Daniel Sunday, who abducted a 10-year old JSS 1 student, Daniel Iya Omolere at Idioro, Mushin, Lagos, Nigeria have been arrested.
The suspects who demanded a N10 million ransom but later reduced it to N3 million were apprehended by the Ondo State police command, Okitipupa division at Omotosho, a remote village in the area, where they had detained their victim.
According to the mother, Mrs. Yinka Iyaomolere, her son was kidnapped when he was sent to the market on Saturday.
She stated that she reported the incident at the Itire police station that night.
It was gathered that Segun Taiwo a.k.a Orobo, a 32-year old native of Ibadan, who worked for Mrs. Iyaomolere as a carpenter allegedly masterminded the kidnap and provided his team with vital information.
Daniel Sunday, a 33-year old painter from Badagry, Lagos, executed the kidnapping plan, while Beke Biyi, a native of Omotosho, Ondo State provided accommodation and transportation.
They were paraded at the office of the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, yesterday.
Daniel Sunday said: “We planned it together, Segun brought the information to us and also gave us Mama Daniel’s phone number. I tricked him out of his mother’s shop.
“We first passed the night at Surulere, Lagos before we continued our journey on Sunday morning. When we saw that he was disturbing, we bought vallium 5 and we gave it to him. So he slept till we got to Beke’s house in Ondo State.â€
Beke Biyi added: “When we got to my house at Omotosho, we called Daniel’s mother and we asked her for money. But some boys in my family house went to call the police and that was how we were arrested.
