Magazine Honours Akunyili

The publishers of New Name magazine, Rita Moses, has concluded plans to host the maiden  edition of New Name Excellence Awards, aimed at honouring Nigerians who have excelled in  their chosen endeavours.

Scheduled to take place on 26 November, 2010, the award is expected to honour personalities  from the political, banking, insurance, adverts and media sector. Information and  Communications Minister, Professor Dora Akunyili tops the list of awardees.

According to Rite, “we are honouring people with integrity who have contributed to the  growth and development of our country, Nigeria.”

Speaking on why Professor Dora Akunyili is on the list of awardees, Rita hinted that “we are  making her Minister of the Year because she was the only minister that spoke boldly at the  Federal Executive Council meeting that the decision makers should allow the law to take its  right course as the decision to let our present President take over was taken early this  year.”

New Name magazine hit the newsstands in 2008.
