The National Union Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Lagos state chapter, under the leadership of Comrade Rafiu Olohunwa, has been described as a ‘new brand union’.
Comrade Tokunboh Seriki, chairman, Ojodu branch of the union said this recently in Lagos while speaking with newmen when he conducted them round the newly constructed secretariat of the branch.
Seriki stated that it would be wrong for anyone to refer to the members of the union, especially in Lagos state as area boys Agbero, with their investments and contribution to the nation’s economy.
He commended the state chairman, Olohunwa, for the re-branding initiative and refocusing the union; which he said have positively changed the image of the union in corporate world.
‘‘There has been a wind of change in NURTW, Lagos state chapter in the past three years, our chairman, Olohunwa’s re-branding initiative has really transformed the union.
‘‘Banks, insurance companies and government agencies have been transacting business with the union because of the confidence they have in NURTW’s new leadership.
He added that the new leader has also changed the union’s offices from the usual shanties to well-befitting offices in some of the union’s branches
