New Okada Laws In Good Faith
Apparently unperturbed by the decision of the Lagos State government to restrict Okada riders in the state from plying certain expressways, the chairman, All Nigeria Automobile Commercial Owners and Workers Association, ANACOWA, Lagos State, Mr. Ade Ikuesan has affirmed that as long as the restriction is premised on the safety of the lives of his members and not an outright ban, they are satisfied with it and shall abide by the law.
He made this assertion while speaking with P.M.NEWS on the recent decision by the state government to regulate the activities of Okada riders.
“As long as the intent is to save the lives of many members, I do not have any objection. We are partners in progress and we are glad that the Fashola led administration is so concerned about the well-being of our members and that they meant well,†he said.
On the issue of men of the underworld who operate with motorcycles and how the association hopes to arrest the situation, Ikuesan said his association has evolved a system where members of his association would be easily identified through the uniform and tag names. They are duly registered and recognised by the association.
He commended the former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his vision in picking governor Fashola as his successor adding that governor Fashola has brought a lot of development to Lagos.
