The Chairman of Bolowotan Football Club of Ikorodu, Oluwatoyin Gafaar, has sent warning signals to other teams that will participate in the Lagos State Oba’s Cup to beware of the team.
The club boss told Grassroot Soccer Guide that they are ready for this year’s Oba’s Cup, boasting that no team can stop them from reaching the final.
“We came third in the last edition but this year we are going for the Cup. Bolowotan is a big club in the state and our fans will be disappointed if we fail to win the trophy, “he said.
Gafaar disclosed that the club have started screening for new players in order to fortify the team ahead of the competition.
Gafaar said the screening is necessary because most of his key players have left the club for professional clubs.
He urged interested players to come and fight for shirts at their training venue at the Model College, Ikorodu, disclosing that the exercise will last for three weeks.
“Presently, some of my key players have left and I need to replace them with fresh players. That is why I flunged open the camp to all and sundry in the state†he said.
Meanwhile, most participating clubs are lamenting that a date has not been fixed for the championship. While some of the club owners who spoke with Grassroot Soccer Guide threatened to back out of the competition, others urged the organisers to fix a date for the competition.
