Barely three days after the former Military dictator, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida  declared to contest in the 2011 Presidential election, students of Lagos State University  (LASU)’s External System (Anthony Campus) have joined millions of Nigerians to reject him.

The School Students’ Representative Council (SRC) made this known yesterday during their  visit to the ICNL corporate headquarters, the publisher of P.M.NEWS and The News in Ogba,  Lagos State, Nigeria.

Although the motive of their visit was to register their dissatisfaction over LASU External  System’s state of affairs, they used  the opportunity to denounce IBB as a Presidential  hopeful in the 2011 election, saying that “IBB lacks quality to rule Nigeria again.”

Speaking with P.M.NEWS, the President of SRC, Anthony Campus, Comrade Shedrack Oludare, said  IBB has failed Nigerians, especially the Youths during his term as a military Head of State,  adding that he has no solution to Nigeria’s problems.”

“We are saying a capital NO to Babangida coming to rule again because he has not done  anything good to deserve the second term ticket. Insha Allah, in the name of Jesus Christ,  IBB will not win the election,” Oludare stated.

The General Secretary of the Students’ Representative Council, Comrade Taiwo Balogun, noted  that IBB has committed lots of evil in Nigeria, adding that, “he is the cause of the  plethora of problems that have bedeviled our country’s education and economy.”

The LASU students urged Nigerians not to cast their votes for IBB and other aspirants who  have no future for Nigeria.

“We need new vibrant people, who have a road map and solution to Nigeria’s problems. We need  a visionary leader that has a charisma of leadership,”  he  stated.

The Students’ Representative Council therefore called on fellow youths, particularly  Nigerian students not to allow discredited politicians to buy their future with money,  saying, “it is better to suffer today, so that the entire generation coming after us can  enjoy the fruits of our labour.”

Meanwhile, the students have denied a newspaper report that all outstanding results from  2001 to 2008 have been cleared by LASU external system management, saying that, the number  of people cleared is insignificant compared to thousands of students affected.

Comrade Shedrack is calling for the immediate release of  outstanding results through every  means easily accessible for students, stressing the need for the school management to  recognize the Students’ Representative Council (SRC).

“We have gone through lawful means to fight for our right. We have written so many letters  to the management and Lagos State government, but no positive response. If they have  answered us, we would not be here today. All what we need is release of all outstanding  results, provision of good learning environment and recognition of Students’ Representative  Council (SRC),” he concluded.
