Lagos Mainland Local Council has inaugurated its U-17 football club christened Mainland United.
Chairman of the Mainland Local Council, Mr. Oladele Adekanye, said the football team, in which their members were selected across the secondary schools in the council area, will be sponsored by the local government in future competitions.
Mr. Adekanye said that the club would be assisted with all the logistics needed to do better in the on-going Lagos Junior League competition.
He stated that the council has appointed two coaches and other officials for the team.
According to him, two sets of jerseys and boots were equally purchased for the players to make their outfits distinct and attractive.
The council chairman also said that a- three- member supporters club from each ward in the council area had been constituted to cheer the club whenever they are playing.
Mr. Adekanye urged the players to always be good ambassadors of the council in their competitions and abide by the rules of the game.
