A notorous car snatcher, Sunday Ogwaji, 25, has been sentenced for two years imprisonment with hard labour by Mrs. A. O. Awogboro of Cele Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, Nigeria.
Sunday pleaded guilty to the one count charge of car snatching for which he was charged before the court. Police alleged he attempted to snatch a bus at Lawanson area in Surulere, Lagos.
The defendant was arraigned for attempting to snatch LT38 bus with registration number XV348MUS at Ikale Street, Ijeshatedo.
Butn luck ran out on him as he attempted to drive off the bus. The owner caught him and raised an alarm.
The intervention of the police saved the culprit from been lynched by the angry mob. He was taken to the police station from where he was charged to the court.
When the charge was read, Sunday pleaded guilty and begged the court for leniency.
The trial magistrate noted that the defendant was not a fist time offender. He was found guilty as charged and sentenced to two years jail term to serve as a deterent to others.
