The ancient town of Ondo, Ondo State in Western Nigeria was agog this morning whenÂ celebrities, musical stars, royal fathers and top flight politiciansÂ stormed the townÂ for the burial ceremony of Madam Mariam Adegeye, mother of King Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye,Â KSA.
Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko and Senator Iyiola Omisore led the top politicalÂ class to the interdenominational church service held at the hall of Wesley University ofÂ Science and Technology, Ondo.
Musical stars who graced the occasion include Alhaji Kolawole Ilori a.k.a. KollingtonÂ Ayinla, Evangelist Ebenezer Fabiyi Obey, Admiral Dele Abiodun and Evangelist FemiÂ Opalemo.
Five traditional rulers sent their representatives. They include the Oba of Lagos whoÂ sent two white cap chiefs and the representative of the Osemawe of Ondo.
As at the time of going to the press, the church service was ongoing.
At the end of the church service, the womanâ€™s remains will be interred. After that, thereÂ will be a reception at the Civic Centre in Ondo where Dele Abiodun and Y.K. Ajao areÂ expected to perform today.
Madam Adegeye recently passed on at the age of 112.
