The ancient town of Ondo, Ondo State in Western Nigeria was agog this morning when celebrities, musical stars, royal fathers and top flight politicians stormed the town for the burial ceremony of Madam Mariam Adegeye, mother of King Sunday Adeniyi Adegeye, KSA.
Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko and Senator Iyiola Omisore led the top political class to the interdenominational church service held at the hall of Wesley University of Science and Technology, Ondo.
Musical stars who graced the occasion include Alhaji Kolawole Ilori a.k.a. Kollington Ayinla, Evangelist Ebenezer Fabiyi Obey, Admiral Dele Abiodun and Evangelist Femi Opalemo.
Five traditional rulers sent their representatives. They include the Oba of Lagos who sent two white cap chiefs and the representative of the Osemawe of Ondo.
As at the time of going to the press, the church service was ongoing.
At the end of the church service, the woman’s remains will be interred. After that, there will be a reception at the Civic Centre in Ondo where Dele Abiodun and Y.K. Ajao are expected to perform today.
Madam Adegeye recently passed on at the age of 112.
