The newly elected president of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, NOC said his immediate planÂ is to improve the welfare of Nigerian athletes and take sports to the next level.
Ndanusa disclosed this after he emerged as the president of NOC in the elections heldÂ last Thursday at the National Stadium, Lagos, Nigeria.
AddressingÂ journalists after the elections, the former sports minister said he is notÂ happy with the performance of Nigerian athletes in international competitions. He saidÂ his tenure will bring back the lost glory.
â€œWe are aware of the challenges before us. My immediate plan is to ensure that NigerianÂ athletes excel at the forthcoming Commonwealth Games,Â slated for Delhi, India, and alsoÂ improve their welfare. This is the time we need to bring Nigerian sports back on track ifÂ we want to make our mark in international championships,â€ he said.
The President of Nigeria Tennis Federation said he will organise a regular stakeholdersÂ meeting where vital issues will be discussed. He stated that his administration willÂ organise a seminar for athletes, coaches and sports administrators to update theirÂ knowledge in the world of sports.
He urged Nigerians to have confidence in the newly elected members, promising that theyÂ will do everything humanly possible to ensure that Nigeria takes her rightful position inÂ Â international competitions.
