The Divisional Crime officer, DCO of Adekunle Police Division, Adekunle Yaba, Lagos, South West, Nigeria, DSP M.A Oloyede has appealed to criminals still masquerading as political party supporters in the area to surrender their weapons or face the full wrath of the law.
Oloyede told P.M.NEWS that some hoodlums who claim to be party supporters go around breaking into people’s houses, attacking residents and generally constituting a nuisance in the area. He warned such people to desist from such acts or leave the area.
He made the statement at a recent security stakeholders meeting convened by the Divisional Police Officer, DPO in charge of Adekunle Police Station with residents of Makoko.
He said the police is not affiliated to any political party and there is no law that permits anybody to own a gun without licence or other offensive weapons.
“I am using this opportunity to appeal to residents to give genuine information on suspects in their neighbourhood as this is the only way the police can provide the much needed security,†he added.
