An aspirant to the Imo State House of Assembly under the platform of Peopleâ€™s DemocraticÂ Party, PDP, in Okigwe Local Government area, Hon. Emmanuel Mbanusi has reiterated hisÂ commitment to effect changes in the area which he claimed has been marginalised.
Speaking with P.M.NEWS, the National Treasurer of the National youth Council of Nigeria,Â NYCN, maintained that, he is the best candidate for the post having served at variousÂ posts in the local government and as a grassroot politician.
According to him, â€œbefore now, the local government has not witnessed effectiveÂ representation in the state assembly to attract any feasible constituency projects, toÂ bring industries there to generate employment for the youths and women.Â I have offeredÂ myself for service to my people and intend through legislation and executive lobbying toÂ restore Okigwe to reckoning, to use power of legislation to empower youths and women andÂ intend to establish Eldersâ€™ Council of Okigwe, ECO which will be made up of politicalÂ leaders, traditional rulers, youths and women.
This is to establish a town hall meeting where I will give constituency briefingÂ quarterly to the people and I want to use my wide contact to attract MDGâ€™s programme toÂ the community,â€ the former Supervisory Councillor for works, Housing and Transport inÂ Okigwe Local Government said.
Mbanusi, who is the Minority Leader, Nigerian Youth parliament said he has the blessingÂ of all the traditional rulers in Okigwe. He said that lack of good representation hasÂ been the problem facing the socio-economic development of Okigwe which is one of theÂ prominent areas in Imo State.
