Saraki Jets Out For Medical Treatment
People’s Democratic Party stalwart and father of Kwara State governor, Olusola Saraki, has again travelled to London to treat his ailing leg.
A close aide of Saraki, who spoke with our correspondent in Ilorin under the condition of anonymity, confirmed that Olooye, as he is fondly called by his admirers, travelled out of the country to London on Saturday, 25 September for the routine medical check up and also to treat his ailing leg.
Saraki’s aide also confirmed that when he spoke with Dr. Saraki on Sunday evening, he said he would soon return home to prepare for the forthcoming primaries of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
Some of the people our correspondent spoke to in Ilorin on the rumour over the deteriorating health condition of Saraki, dismissed it. They said he is hale and hearty and there is no anxiety in the state about his health.
Saraki was in Ilorin on Saturday, 18 September, 2010 to formally endorse his daughter, Senator Gbemisola Saraki, as the governorship aspirant under the ruling PDP.
At the event, Olooye was joyous, dancing and responding to cheers and accolades from the crowd that witnessed the event at his Olorunsogo party office in Ilorin.
Addressing journalists immediately after the endorsement, Saraki said notwithstanding the fact the Kwara Central has been calling the shots in the past 12 years, he was compelled to settle for the candidacy of his daughter because he wanted somebody that he could trust to be the next governor in the state, having been betrayed by those he had assisted to become governor of the state at one time or the other.
According to him, Bukola, the state governor, has neither disappointed him nor the people of the state, believing that Gbemisola, his own daughter, would also not disappoint and would sustain the landmark achievements of Bukola.
