They were the first to hit the stage and their performance was electrifying, daring, full of unbelievable stunts and when they did a piece on Nigeria’s golden jubilee, they drew an applause from the audience.
It was therefore not surprising that Nigerians crowned The Adejo Family, one of the five finalist families that vied for this year’s Maltina Dance All, champions at the Eko Hotel and Suites on Saturday, 25 September, after securing the highest votes in the exciting, engaging and enthralling family TV reality show.
The family, apart from the prestige of emerging winners, also carted away the star prize of N2.5 million and a sport utility vehicle (SUV) worth N7 million.
It was all excitement as the five finalists, Abang, Nelson, Eselemo, Adejo and Uhie, slugged it out at the grand finale to emerge winners for the 4th season of MDA.
The show began with a pantomime of Nigeria at 50 dances, where each family displayed a well-thought out concept of the emergence of Nigeria from independence and how country has grown and developed over the years.
The judges made up Michael Adegoke and Janell Burges, both professional dancers from the United States of America, also thrilled the audience with their multi-faceted dance steps, which comprised dance patterns from all over the world such as rhumba, cha-cha-cha, salsa, ballet and South African leg dance. The hip hop dance, the main attraction of the night, featured the five families doing an energetic dance with a lot of contemporary acrobatics. The winning family comprising three young men, put their youthful vigour to the test which eventually brought them success in the end.
