Piqued by the news that Oba Abideen Durosinmi, the Osulu of Irewe town has been visiting Moba town with surveyors and has concluded plans to apply to the state government for a Certificate of Occupancy, the inhabitants of Moba have vowed to resist the attempt with the last drop of their blood.
Sometime ago, the community had raised an alarm that Oba Durosinmi had trespassed on their land, carrying on activities which include excavation of sand without consulting or seeking their approval for such act which is a violation of their rights as owners of the land.
A spokesman of the community, Mr. Sumodu Saliu described Governor Fashola as indefatigable leader whose leadership is all about service to humanity and respect for the rule of law and fundamental human rights of all, irrespective of their class or status. He wondered why Osulu of Irewe, whose community has no boundary with Moba could come from his domain to encroach on a land that does not belong to him.
“The fact that he installed our Baale, High Chief Rasaki Aliu Adisa, as required by the Chief Cap Laws of Obas and Chiefs, does not in any way make us subservient to him, we still owe our Baale the required loyalty and not any other traditional ruler.
“The community is unanimous in condemning the purported desire of the Osulu of Irewe to make himself the overlord of an area that is clearly out of his jurisdiction. We therefore call on Governor Fashola to intervene to avoid unnecessary bloodshed,” he stated.
Oba Durosinmi could not be reached but as at press time, tension was still mounting in the community.
