Over 2000 subscribers have won cash prizes worth N10 million and free airtime worth N1 million in the Recharge and Go To Old Trafford Promo Season II draw held recently at the Mike Adenuga Headquarters of Globacom in Victoria Island, Lagos State.
In all, 40 subscribers won N250,000 each, which was made up of four winners each day for 10 days, while another 1,000 subscribers won free N500 airtime each week to give a total of 2,000 winners of airtime for two weeks.
President-General of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Dr. Rafiu Ladipo; the chairman of the club, Otunba Yisa Bashorun and the Regional Director of DSTV Adv/ Sales, Henry Meyer, were some of the important personalities who assisted in drawing the winners .
The draw was also witnessed by the Deputy Director, Regulation and Monitoring of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission, Prince Emmanuel Jeminiwa.
After the draw, Jeminiwa said that Globacom had exhibited absolute transparency in the conduct of the draws. “No mix up, no manipulations,†he said.
Speaking at the event, Globacom’s Executive Director, Legal Services, Gladys Talabi, said the draw was in fulfilment of the company’s pledge at the launch of the promo season II  two weeks ago.
She explained that Globacom in the first season had taken more than 70 subscribers to an all-expenses-paid trip to Manchester City to watch live matches of Manchester. United Football Club, and this season the prize bouquet has been enhanced.
“We decided to increase the prizes in Season II in order to give as many subscribers as possible the opportunity to benefit from the promo and make it a win-win for all fans,â€Â Talabi explained.
Winners of the various prizes are being contacted and will receive their prizes as soon as verifications are completed.
The Recharge and Go to Old Trafford promo is one of the benefits provided in the partnership between Globacom and Manchester United which was launched in February 2010 in Lagos State.
The promo requires subscribers to recharge with N500 or more to qualify for the draw. The more a subscriber recharges the more his or her chances of winning.
They are to recharge within a week to qualify for the lucky draw to win the all-expenses-paid trip to watch the next home match of Man United or any of the other prizes.
Globacom has also launched the promotion in Benin Republic, where Manchester United forward, Quinton Fortune, made a special guest appearance.
