Academic activities have been paralysed at the Lagos State University, LASU, Ojo, Lagos State as the strike embarked upon by the institution’s branch of Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, enters its second week.
According to the secretary of ASUU chapter of LASU, Dr. Elias Wahab, his members went on strike because the Lagos State Government has refused to honour the Federal Government/LASU agreement reached in 2009.
During a meeting held by the LASU branch of ASUU on Thursday last week, members resolved that the strike action will continue until the state government met their demands.
Chairman, LASU branch of ASUU, Dr. Akinyemi told P.M.NEWS that his members have vowed not to go back to lecture rooms until the governor, who is the visitor to the university, was ready to meet their demands, adding that there will be no further negotiation that done by the national body of ASUU.
