Hon. Wasiu Eshinlokun, Chairman, Lagos Island Local Government, Lagos State, South WestÂ Nigeria, has commended teachers in public schools in the state for their steadfastnessÂ and dedication to duty.
Sanni gave this commendation at this yearâ€™s edition of â€˜My Complete Studentâ€™, a programmeÂ initiated byÂ the local. The programme is aimed at supplying all educational materials toÂ pupils of public schools in the council area.
He charged the teachers to assist in restoring the traditional role of the school asÂ institutions of social control by teaching and instilling discipline, moral values andÂ ethics in the pupils.
Mr. Moshood Mayegun, Education Secretary, Lagos Island Local Government Authority,Â praised the chairman for the initiative which he said has led to an increase in pupilÂ enrolment in primary schools in the council.
He appealed to the chairman and well-meaning Lagosians to donate generously towards theÂ Education Week which will hold in November.
During the programme, over 10,000 pupils of primary schools and junior secondary schoolsÂ in the council area were given a pack which contains two school uniforms, sandals, socks,Â note books, text books and other educational materials.
Schools in the area were also given recreational materials such as swings, merry-go-roundÂ and slides as well as Spelling Bee dictionaries.
Sanni also announced donation of two tricycles as well as communication gadgets to AreaÂ â€˜Aâ€™ Lion Building which was received by Mr. Tajudeen Bakare, a Chief Superintendent ofÂ Police, CSP.
