NUT Set For World Teachers' Day

The Nigeria Union of Teachers, Ikorodu branch, has kicked off activities to mark the 2010  World Teachers Day, with a health talk, football match, a gala night and an award  ceremony among other sporting activities earmarked for its programmes.

According to the chairman of the union in Ikorodu, Comrade L.B Oduguwa, “We have  organised so many activities for the week-long celebration which include a football  match, an award day, where we will honour the Oba of Imota, Oba Ajibade Bakare Agoro, a  teachers pride award, and thanksgiving services at both the Ikorodu Central Mosque and  the Methodist Church, Itaelewa, Ikorodu on Sunday,” he stated.

At a health talk held at the Government College, Ikorodu to herald the Day 2 of  activities, the Speaker, Dr. Adebayo, spoke on cervical cancer prevention, hypertension  and other stress related ailments. Afterwards, there was a question and answer session  and later screening of the teachers by medical personnel.
