The Alayande family of Idi Agbon Village in Eti Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State, South West Nigeria, who owns a vast expanse of land in Ajah, has petitioned the Area Commander, Area A Police Command, Lion Building, Lagos, over disturbance of peace in Alayande village, which it said, can lead to a breakdown of law and order.
In the said petition written by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Oluyede Solana, on behalf of the head of Alayande family, Madam Hannah Bakare Alayande, acting for the family, reason for the petition arose from of law suit filed by Madam Memunat Alayande and six others namely Alhaja Kudirat Shonibare, Aolatu Tinubu Laseni Anafiu, Woitu Salami Alayande, Yakubu Alayande and Alhasu Alayande, against Pa Woitu Alayande, Haman Bakare Alayande and others for alienating the Alayande family land without the consent of  principal members of the family.
On 24 June this year, Justice Oluwatoyin Tanwo, in his judgement, declared that by the time the defendants commissioned Prince Adesoji Adele, a surveyor, to prepare a survey of the family land, the consent of Memunat Alayande, who is the oldest surviving child was not obtained, therefore, the agreement was void ab initio and a cost of N100,000 was awarded in favour of the plaintiffs.
However, while these legal pursuits were going on, the fact that the court did not declare Madam Memunat as the head of Alayande family and no proprietary right of the family land on sole control of same was given to her, it was alleged that on 30 August this year, her agent went to the family land with a threat of dislodging the occupiers of the land without any legal authority.
Currently, who have the right to defend themselves in case of any aggression are earning their living on the land, therefore, the petitioners are very worried that if the threats are carried out, it may lead to a breakdown of law and order and consequently implored the Area Commander to use his good offices to investigate the matter before it degenerates into chaos and commotion.
