The Advertisers Association of Nigeria, ADVAN, has named Maltina, the nourishing malt drink from the stable of Nigerian Breweries Plc, as the 2010 Brand of The Year. Mr Tokunbo Adodo, the senior brand Manager, Maltina, has equally been named  Brand Manager  of The Year for helping the growth of Maltina, to sell up to 31million bottles daily.
At the ADVAN Marketing Awards 2010, to reward marketing excellence, held at the prestigious Lagos Oriental Hotel, Lekki, Lagos last weekend, Star, the premium lager also from the stable of NB Plc was also named as the Evergreen Brand of the Year.
According to Idorenyin Enang, President of ADVAN, the awards were for well deserved brands that have over the years remained fresh.
He said campaigns that won awards this year must have impacted positively across the world as well as have cultural acceptability as it relates to Nigeria, especially in use of the media.
Enang admonished advertisers to start rebuilding the industry because their job was about the managers, the brand and the consumers.
Jacco van der Linden, Marketing Director, NB Plc said the awards of three outstanding marketing excellence awards by the NB Plc marketing team is a clear testimony to the hard work by the company to always satisfy consumer yearning in all marketing communications.
Other brands that bagged awards included Stanbic IBTC for Best Radio Campaign of The Year and MTN Fastlink, for the TV Category.
No advert was honoured in the print category as the award committee said there were no striking and memorable advertisements worthy of the award in the print.
