The Fresh Democratic Party, FDP, held its national convention on Thursday in Lagos,Â Nigeria. It was attended by delegates from across the country.
Members of its national executive council as well as the partyâ€™s flag bearers in the 2011Â general elections were elected.
Expectedly, Pastor Chris Okotie, FDP founder and chairman was elected the partyâ€™sÂ standard bearer in next yearâ€™s presidential election.
Delivering a speech, Okotie promised a purposeful government that can salvage NigeriaÂ from its oppressors.
Okotie blamed the problems confronting the nation on many years of military rule andÂ corrupt leaders.
Also addressing the delegates, Mr. Gyang Pam, the National Vice Chairman in the NorthÂ Central Zone said the FDP was formed based on the advancement of the nationâ€™s coreÂ values, in a country that has a large youth population.
