The operational police officer attached to Isheri-Oshun division, Supol Agu Philip was recently battered by a suspect, Yekini Sulaimon. He was later docked in court and ordered to be remanded in prison.
It was gathered that 32-year old Yekini had gone to the station to bail his friend who was involved in a criminal matter.
On interrogation, the IPO discovered that he has to make certain clarification on certain issues concerning his suspect friend.
He was taken to the operational officer, who is now re-cuperating from the shock and injury he sustained from the attack for interrogation. Instead of providing answers to the Supol’s questions he decided to attack him to escape.
He was eventually rearrested and charged to Ejigbo magistrate’s court for assault and conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace.
The offence, according to the police is contrary to section 249 of the Criminal Code Cap 17 Vol.2 Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.
