Azeez Kolawole, 28, a furniture maker has been arrested by the police for allegedly raping a six-year-old girl.
The suspect, a resident of 17, Adebayo Street, Owutu, Ikorodu, Lagos State, South West Nigeria was alleged to have lured the little girl into his room while she was playing with other children outside the house and raped her.
Speaking with Crime Watch shortly before he was handed over to the police at Owutu Divisional headquarters in Ikorodu, Azeez Kolawole said he did not know what came over him and blamed the devil for his action.
“I don’t know what pushed me to do it. People have been warning me to be very careful. I don’t know who I have offended.â€
“I am married, I have one child and my wife always allowed me to make love to her; this is the work of the devil.â€
The little girl was said to have raised an alarm when which attracted neighbours to the scene. The girl’s mother reported the case at Owutu Police Station and the suspect was arrested.
The Divisional Police Officer of Owutu Police Station, Mr. Monday Okpa a Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP, could not be reached for comments.
