Fashola Promotes 103 Fire Service Officers

The Lagos State Fire Service is one of the parastatals that benefited from Nigeria’s 50th independence celebration in Lagos, as the state governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, promoted 103 men and women of the state’s fire service. The government also retired five members of the service.

Speaking during the decoration of the newly promoted officers, Mr. Adedayo Ajose, the State Director of Fire Service, urged the newly promoted officers to remain thankful to the governor and the Commissioner of Home Affairs and Culture for such an independence gift.

The Lagos State Fire Service personnel in recent times had been commended for their excellent performance and observers believe that with such promotion, the sky will be the limit for them.

The service had also been adjudged as the best in the country both in equipment and manpower services.

The decoration of the officers was done by Ajose and Alhaji Shina Elegbede, Lagos State director of arts and culture who also represented the governor at the event.

The five officers retired were Alhaji Musa Muraina CFS, Chief Fire Superintendent, Alhaji Ladi Waliu, CFS, Mojid Tajudeen, CFS, Mustapha Akeem Idowu, CFS and Alafia Rasaq PFS1, Principal Fire Superintendent while the majority of those promoted were mostly senior officers from the rank of Assistant Chief Fire Suprintendent, Chief Fire Suprintendent, etc.

The was graced by all the retired senior fire officers of the outfit, while among the dignitaries that attended the event were the Commissioner for Home Affairs and Culture, Mr. Tunde Balogun; Permanent Secretary to Ministry of Home Affairs and Culture, Adedoyin Olusoga, who prayed for the retirees for a job well done, and wished them happy retirement years.

Balogun in his speech urged the retirees to cheer up as the government had made provision for their well being.

He also wished them well in their new life.

Governor Fashola and Balogun were praised for taking the state fire service to the level it is now.

Balogun later issued certificate of meritorious service to the five retirees on behalf of the governor.

The Director of the state fire service, Mr. Ajose thanked Governor Fashola for approving the employment of 250 fire men into the outfit.

He also thanked the governor for procuring hitech equipment for the fire service.
