Man, 23, Arraigned For Robbery

A 23-year-old man, Emeka Onyebule, of no fixed address has been arraigned before an Ebute Metta Magistrate’s Court in Lagos, southwest Nigeria, for alleged armed robbery and felony.

Emeka was alleged to have committed the offence around Orile axis of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, when he and others, who are now at large, attacked Mrs. Ekannah Ogenekevwe with guns and other dangerous weapons and disposed her of a laptop computer, Starcomm Izap, Techno Toan GSM phone and her wallet containing important documents and some cash, all valued at N520,000.

The second charge against him read that he had committed an offence punishable under section 1(2)(a)(b) and punishable under Section of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provision), Act. Cap R11, Laws of Federation 2004.

He pleaded not guilty but his plea was not taken by the presiding magistrate, Mr. M.O. Olubi, who ordered that he should be remanded in prison custody pending the outcome of the legal advice from the office of Director of Public Prosecutor, DPP, while the case was adjourned till 20 October, 2010 for mention.
