Aged people in Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, under the aegis of Elders Forum For Life, have called on Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola of Lagos State, to see to the welfare of elderly persons living in the state.
The forum made the appeal during a press conference to commemorate Nigeria’s golden jubilee celebration, tagged ‘Nigeria At 50, The Voice of The Elders’, held in Lagos, recently.
Elder Salisu Buhari Arowobusoye, Chief (Mrs.) Felicia Ilaka and Chief Korede Bisade-Philip, chairman, president and the patron of the forum respectively, said the forum is fully in support of the Fashola-led administration in the state but he should include the welfare of old people in his programme.
The forum called on all Lagosians to support and cooperate with the governor in his bid to lead the state to an enviable height. “We give kudos to the administration of Governor Fashola for what he has done so far to ensure Lagos attains a lofty height among the states in Nigeria.
‘‘We are also quick to remind him and his team that we are still far from the promised land. The welfare of the elders in the state should be his major concern; this is the reason for our calling for the continuation of his administration,†the forum stated.
