Tout Charged With Theft

A man said to be a tout, Musa Aliyu, 27, has been arraigned at the Isheri Magistrate’s Court in Lagos, Nigeria.

The prosecutor, Police Inspector John Okpe in a two-count charge, alleged that the suspect conspired with others now at large to commit felony and stole a water pumping machine, heavy duty battery, two spud pillar rings and impeller adjuster, valued at N1.2 million belonging to a company, Santa Adams Nigeria Ltd, at Oluwanisho Community Market, Kora, Lagos State.

Police alleged that the offence was committed at about 2 a.m. on 13 September, 2010. The offence is punishable under Section 413 and 390 of the crimianl Code, Cap. 31 vol ii, laws of the Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003. When the charge was read to him, he pleaded not guilty

The trial magistrate, Mrs. M. I. Danoni granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum who must produce evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State government.

The case has been adjourned till 20 October, 2010 for mention
