After waiting endlessly for the government at the state and local levels, residents of Ogundele community in Orile-Agege Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, South West Nigeria, took it upon themselves to fill all the potholes on the road in the area.
The road, which serves as alternative to Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway any time there is heavy traffic on the major road, it was gathered, has been in bad state for a long time without any effort to rehabilitate it.
One of the volunteers who spoke to Lagos Bulletin on condition of anonymity, said the residents could no longer wait till the road is completely out of use, the reason they put it upon themselves to fill the bad portions and make it a little bit accessible for vehicles pending the time government would attend to it.
Mr. Ademowo Samuel, a resident of the area, said the road is state government road and appealed to Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola to direct the Ministry Of Works and Infrastructure to see to it urgently.
