An Italy-based Nigerian businessman, Francis Onabis, has declared his intention to contest for Nigeria’s presidency in the 2011 general elections.
He made his declaration through a press statement issued on his behalf by his media coordinator, Ayodele Oloye.
Onabis is from Edo State and does not belong to any political party. He is CEO of Mattia holdings Limited, a financial and marketing consulting company in Cyprus, and Stillwater Limited based in Italy.
While explaining that his love for his country and his desire for a change motivated him, Onabis said he had acquired knowledge and experience of good governance outside, which he intends to inject into Nigeria to make the nation great.
Onabis lamented the complete breakdown of infrastructure in Nigeria; adding that security of people and property cannot be guaranteed.
Condemning the ruling People’s Democratic Party PDP, he said, “they run the government of Nigeria as their own personal property, Nigeria belongs to all and any person who is elected to public office must understand that he is there to serve the people. PDP has ruled Nigeria for the past 11 years and the country is not better off, no thanks to their way of ruling.â€
