Nigeria @ 50: Victor Olaiya, Rolling Dollar, Obey Relive Old Memories

Dr, Victor Abimbola Olaiya, OON, Pa Fatai Rolling Dollar, Evang. Ebenezer Obey Fabiyi and  other veteran musicians releved the tunes of yesteryears at the banquet hall ,Lagos City  Hall, Lagos, Nigeria at the weekend when they sang some highlife tunes.

The event was the Golden Tunes Achievement Awards, Launching of The Evergreen Music  Foundation and The Parade of Stars organised by Femi Esho’s Evergreen Musical Company  Limited.

During the event deceased stars like Steve Rhodes, I..K. Dairo, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti,  Haruna Ishola, Adeolu Akinsanya, and living legends namely Dr.Olaiya, Dan Maraya Jos,  David Bull, King Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey and others were rewarded with Lifetime  Achievement Awards.

The high point of the event was the music interlude. Dr .Olaiya mounted the stage with  his trademark of white handkerchief and the trumpet, dishing out from his rich repertoire  of highlife music by playing popular tunes like Bro Victor, Ebamiso fun baby komailo, and  others. He also took the opportunity of the show to introduce his singing son Bayode who  performed with him.

Another performance received accolades from the crowd was the duet between Fatai Rolling  Dollar and Ebenezer Obey. The duo perform the song won kere si number together. During  the performance, Obey showered Rolling Dollar with crisp naira notes, while the former  gave him his blessings.

Other old stars that gave a good account of themselves are, David Bull, Orlando Julius,  Stella Monye, Orlando Owoh Junior and others.
