The lawmaker representing Lagos Island Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Abdul Wahab Olawale Alawiye-King, has described the death of a foremost educationist and former Minister of Education, Professor Aliu Babatunde Fafunwa, as loss of a major pillar in the education sector in the country.
Alawiye-King, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Education, in a condolence message, said the academic sector would miss him dearly.
According to him, “as an erudite scholar, patriot, educationist and one of our great leaders, whose contributions and active participation in all initiatives to repostion the country’s education remained unequalled, Prof. Fafunwa’s death is a loss to the entire Lagos ‘Islanders’ in particular and Lagos State in general.â€
While praying for the repose of th soul of the departed statesman, Alawiye-King also prayed that Allah will give his family, the entire people of Lagos and the nation the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
