A man who allegedly assaulted a lady, Thomas Dada, has been remanded in prison custody in Apapa, Lagos, Nigeria, on the orders of an Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court.
The 27-year old Thomas was alleged to have slapped Kudirat and tore her clothes for snubbing him when he made passes to her.
The incident happened at their residence, 48, Imesan compound, Egan, in the outskirts of Lagos.
Kudirat reported the assault at Igando Police Station and Thomas was arrested and charged to Ejigbo Magistrate’s Court.
The offence, the police prosecutor said, is contrary to Section 356 of the Criminal Code Cap 17, Vol. 2 Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.
When the charge was read to him, Thomas pleaded not guilty and the presiding magistrate, Mrs. Solebo, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with one responsible surety in like sum. He was ordered to be remanded in prison custody at Apapa because he could not meet the bail conditions, while the matter was adjourned till 27 October, 2010 for further hearing.
