Cab Operators Assure On Safety

Lagos State Taxi Drivers and Cab Operators Association (LASTDCOA), operators of conventional taxi and cab system in Lagos State, has assured its numerous customers of their safety and that of their belongings.

Prince Tajudeen Adetoro, the general secretary of the association, gave the assurance at the Somolu secretariat of the association during a chat with Lagos Bulletin recently.

Adetoro stated that with the new transportation scheme in the state as introduced by the Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola-led administration, the association cannot afford to toy with the security and safety of its numerous passengers.

He commended the state government, the Ministry of Transportation and Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, for giving the necessary support and assistance to the association, saying this has helped in changing the face of taxi operation in the state.

According to him, “prior to the introduction of BRT and the new taxi system in the state, we were of the belief that acquiring new cars for our business would be an uphill task, but with the assistance of the Lagos State government, Ministry of Transportion and Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, we have been able to acquire new cars, which in return has improved our service.

“We commend the Governor Fashola-led government for the revolution it introduced into the transport system in the state, because it has made us a partner in the mega city project.”

The general secretary called on taxi and cab drivers, especially members of the association, to always accord their passengers the respect and continue to be law abiding, while also urging Lagos residents to continue to patronise them and offer advice on how to serve them better.
