A fake soldier who claimed to be a private in the Nigerian Army, Francis Erebulu, 41, hasÂ been arraigned on a two-count charge of impersonation and theft at the Ogudu Magistrate’sÂ Court in Lagos.
The police prosecutor alleged that in June, Francis at 5, Agboyi Road, Ogudu claimed toÂ be a Nigerian Army private and stole one laptop valued at N75,000 belonging to OloruntobaÂ Ayode.
The offences are punishable under sections 109, 390, (9) of the Criminal Code, Cap.C. 17,Â Vol.11, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.
When the charge was read to him, he pleaded not guilty and the prosecutor, Supol Eyo OwaiÂ did not oppose his application for bail.
The trial magistrate, Mrs. Folarin Williams admitted the defendant to bail in the sum ofÂ N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The case has been adjourned till 18 November, 2010 for hearing.
