Students of Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, Ijanikin, Lagos, South-West Nigeria, this morning barricaded the Lagos-Badagry expressway while protesting the ongoing strike by their lecturers.

Eyewitnesses told P.M.NEWS that the students blocked the busy highway linking Nigeria with Benin Republic with broken chairs and tables, thus preventing vehicular movement.

Several motorists were stranded for hours as vehicles moving in opposite directions effectively blocked one another.

Workers, nursery and primary school pupils were also stranded in the chaotic traffic jam.

P.M.NEWS gathered that some of the protesting students took advantage of the situation to extort money ranging from N500 and N1,000 from motorists before allowing them to pass.

Some commuters had to get off their busses and trek to a point where they could get another vehicle to take them to their destinations.

At the time of filing this report, normalcy was being restored by security agencies who were informed about the traumatic situation.
